Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

1. Introduction

Hauntly (“the App”) is developed by Frumpets Ltd (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Hauntly mobile application and our website at hauntly.me.

Contact: support@hauntly.me

2. Summary

  • Your ghost hunt content (recordings, photos, videos, notes, and sensor readings) is stored locally on your device. We do not upload it to our servers.
  • The App contains no advertising and no ad networks.
  • There are no user accounts. The only data we receive is feedback you actively submit, plus standard anonymous crash and usage analytics.

3. Information We Collect

Data Stored on Your Device Only (Not Transmitted)

The following data is created and stored locally on your device. It is never sent to our servers or any third party unless you explicitly choose to share or export it:

  • Audio recordings (EVP sessions and journal audio clips)
  • Photos and videos, including motion-detection captures
  • EMF sensor readings
  • Spirit Box session logs
  • Ghost hunt notes, markers, and journal entries
  • Ghost hunt locations (if you grant location permission, see Section 7)
  • Backup files (.hauntly) you export

Data You Choose to Send Us

  • Feedback: If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the category and message you write, and your email address only if you choose to provide it. This is stored securely on our backend (Supabase) and used solely to respond to and act on your feedback. See Section 6.

4. Crash Reporting & Analytics

Sentry (crash reporting)

We use Sentry to identify and fix bugs. Sentry collects:

  • Crash logs and error reports
  • Device type and OS version
  • App state at time of error

This data does not include personal information and cannot be used to track you across apps.

Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics, provided by Google, to understand how users interact with the App. This helps us improve features and fix usability issues. Firebase Analytics collects:

  • Screen views and feature usage (e.g. which tools you use most)
  • Session duration and frequency
  • Device type, OS version, and general location (country/region)
  • App events (e.g. starting a ghost hunt, opening the camera)

This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. No recordings, photos, or personal content is ever sent to Firebase. You can learn more in Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Subscription Management (RevenueCat)

We use RevenueCat to manage Hauntly Pro subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat collects:

  • An anonymous app user ID (not linked to your identity)
  • Purchase and subscription history
  • Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
  • Device platform

RevenueCat does not collect your name, email, or any personal contact information. All payment processing is handled by the Google Play Store, so we never see or store your payment details.

For more information, see RevenueCat's privacy policy.

6. Feedback (Supabase)

Our in-app feedback form is powered by Supabase, hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. When you submit feedback we store the category, your message, and (only if you enter it) your email address so we can reply. We use this solely to improve the App and respond to you. You can request deletion of your feedback at any time by emailing support@hauntly.me.

Hauntly does not offer user accounts. Every ghost hunting tool in the App works without one. If we introduce optional community features in the future, we will update this policy before they launch.

7. Location, Maps & Speech

Location

With your permission, the App uses your device's location to:

  • Tag ghost hunts with the place they happened
  • Show your position on in-app maps
  • Determine your country (used only to add local flavour to Spirit Box sessions; precise location is never stored for this)

Location data attached to your ghost hunts is stored locally on your device only. Location permission is optional; the App works without it.

Maps (OpenStreetMap)

In-app maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap servers. Like any web request, this shares your IP address and the map area being viewed with the tile provider. See the OSM Foundation privacy policy.

Speech Recognition (Spirit Box)

The Spirit Box feature listens for spoken questions using your device's built-in speech recognition service (provided by Google on Android). Short voice snippets may be processed by that service to convert speech to text. We do not store or transmit recognised speech to our servers, and transcripts stay within your Spirit Box session on your device.

8. Device Permissions

9. Children's Privacy

Hauntly is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Your Rights

Your ghost hunt content stays on your device and is fully under your control. You can delete it at any time by removing recordings, clearing app data, or uninstalling the App.

For data we do hold (feedback submissions), you can request access, correction, or deletion at any time by emailing support@hauntly.me. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

For data collected by third-party services:
